Covey Associates offers a wide range of environmental services, including Bushfire Management.
At Covey Associates we employ the latest bushfire simulation software to provide a range of bushfire analytics. We provide Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) Assessments, fire management plans, wildfire and prescribed burn simulations, ensemble modelling, “what if” scenarios, fuel management and evacuation advice. We can also organise prescribed burns for our clients.
Our team has tertiary level qualifications in bushfire management as well as extensive fire ground experience.
Coveys was one of the first firms to use CSIRO’s SPARK software and we worked closely with the CSIRO to improve functionality.

Here's an example of a wildfire simulation on K'gari (Fraser Island) using the CSIRO Spark platform and fire weather (recorded at Hervey Bay Automatic Weather Station) and selected and exported using our fire weather analysis software - Ember.
iAward - Merit Winners 2021
Big congratulations to Anthony for his effort in being a “Merit Winner” in the iAwards (Australian Innovation Digital Awards) on behalf of Covey Associates on 23 June 2021.
Anthony was assisted in this by Tecoda in the programming side.
The competition was extremely strong and although we were not the winner in this segment, the actual winner had spent 2.5 years developing their software and subsequently sold it to large American Water & Waste companies.
In our case, Anthony has spent only four (4) months in the development of the Ember – Fire Analysis Software so to come second, is a huge endorsement for his work.

Caloundra Fire 2017 Simulation
This a short animation of the 2017 Caloundra Fire, first produced in SPARK and then QGIS Temporal Controller. The simulation includes no suppression and shows the progression of the fire.
Bushfire Management - Tall Gums
One of our clients purchased an allotment that was surrounded on all sides by tall open forest and undulating topography. The challenge was to locate two residential dwellings on the site without incurring the significant construction material costs associated with high a BAL.
